The smartphones sport OLED panels which are protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover glass. However, some Pixel 8 Pro owners have reported that circular bumps are occurring in several places on the screen.
,
These deformations seem to be the result of something pressing up against the soft and fragile underside of the 6.7-inch OLED panel. Users also noted that the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover glass was also not affected due to the in-display bumps. These bumps are possibly appearing due to the uneven surface the display rests on.
According to a report by 9to5Google, teardowns of affected Pixel 8 Pro models confirmed that the positioning of some components might be pressing up on the underside of the screen. The report also claims that there might be something in the manufacturing process which is making the indents appear.
However, users reported that these bumps aren't impacting Pixel 8 Pros touch functionality or image quality. Moreover, the bumps arent even properly visible if not seen from the correct angle in optimal lighting. Some users are concerned that these bumps will worsen over time and may eventually damage the display.
