Patch 0.5's Return of the Ancients makes the Druid feel less like a reskinned caster and more like a bar fight with antlers. If you're planning a PoE 2 Druid leveling build, don't blow all your Spirit on pretty buffs, even if your PoE 2 Currency stash is already begging for upgrades. The short version: keep enough Spirit free for forms, use weapon swap passives early, and treat dodge roll like movement, not a magic “no damage” button.

Best PoE 2 Druid leveling build idea for Early Access
I'd start bear-first, caster-second. Great Bear hits hard, breaks armour well, and forgives ugly gear more than a spell setup does during the first six acts. Wolf form looks cooler — not gonna lie — but bear gives you cleaner boss windows when you're still learning telegraphs. I've had better luck pairing a Maul weapon set for heavy hits with a Staff swap for nature spells and utility, then assigning passives to each set instead of trying to make one tree do everything.

How Spirit works on Druid without bricking your build
Spirit is the trap. Old PoE brain says, “Reserve everything, stack auras, profit.” No shot. In PoE 2, Spirit also feeds persistent tools like forms, minions, and some utility skills, so overbooking it can leave your Druid standing there like a confused goat. For a PoE 2 Druid leveling build, I'd rather run one key buff and one form plan than cram in three cute effects that kill flexibility.

Azmerian Swarms, Molten Shower, and Runic Infusion are the kind of gems that tempt you into a messy loadout. They're fun. They also ask for planning. Since sockets live on skill gems now, not armor, you can chase multiple six-link setups without praying for the right chest piece, but your weapon base still matters a ton. Attack speed, physical damage, and the weapon tied to your swap passives are still where your DPS starts to spike.

Combat tips: dodge roll, Break Armour, and boss habits
And this is where returning players get slapped. Dodge roll is universal now, but it doesn't hand you full invuln frames like some action RPG panic button. You roll to move out, not to flex through a meteor. Break Armour is the better habit to build early: land the chunky hit, strip defense, then dump your real damage while the target is soft. I burned through a few bosses by being greedy, then fixed it by rolling earlier and saving bear slams for after the tell, which felt dumb because the answer was right there.

Endgame, crafting, and what we still don't know
Return of the Ancients also changes the post-campaign grind hard. Maps are out; Waystones are in, from Tier 1 to Tier 5, with Pristine, Refined, and Ancient rarities. Voidstones come in Eldritch, Ceremonial, and Decayed types, and they push your Atlas level up as you chase Coalesced Corruptions and bigger map bosses. Breach brings Xesht, Expedition brings Olroth, Ritual has the King in the Mists, and Delirium's Liquid Emotions add another currency wrinkle for people who enjoy spreadsheet pain.

Crafting is where I'm half excited, half suspicious. Gold vendors are a nice quality-of-life bump, and the Currency Exchange should make bulk trades less painful, but cross-platform trading still isn't fully clear for launch, so take that with a grain of salt. Kalguuran Runesmithing sounds spicy too, especially Archaic Rune of Retaliation and Archaic Rune of Prowess on the right weapon base. If you're saving for a high-end swap piece or chasing a Divine Orb trade, don't ignore uniques like Redemption and Nightfall from the poe2 db. Your mileage may vary, but for leveling, clean Spirit use beats fancy gear most of the time.Mercenary grenade launchers in Return of the Ancients look fun, but you'll still need solid currency for Trarthan Cannon rolls and Runic Infusion testing. I don't mind the farm, though I use U4GM at https://www.u4gm.com/path-of-exile-2/currency when crafting eats my stash. It makes pushing Tier 5 Waystones less painful.
